Bulgarian Customs Administration
Challenge
The Bulgarian Customs Agency is fully committed to staying in line with the European requirements, decisions, and regulations in the field of customs activities. In doing so, the agency has encountered a number of challenges along its way of development and digitalization.
Solution
In solving the Bulgarian Customs Agency challenges, Latona’s team utilized Future Application Architecture that is based on the innovative SOA principles and also performed development and implementation of the Customs Information System for Export. As a result, the Bulgarian Customs Agency is now one step closer to achieving its main objective in line with the European Union’s 2020 strategy.
Challenge
Even though the Bulgarian Customs legislation and procedures are continuously evolving in their approximation to the EU standards, the current state of affairs is still far away from meeting the relevant requirements.
Solution
To mitigate the challenges faced by the Bulgarian Customs Administration, Latona’s team has worked on the provision for an additional and gradual upgrade of the information system for the purposes of harmonization with the EU system, and constant updating of the national customs IT system. Thus, Bulgarian Customs Authorities have gained technical capabilities for continual and financially sustainable development of its IT towards the full business architecture of e-Customs agenda of the European Union.
Challenge
The Bulgarian Customs Administrations had to prepare for adopting the new requirements of the European legislation (Union Customs Code), as well as at implementing the new customs systems.
Solution
To accomplish this, Latona supported the team working on the project by establishing the Institutional Architecture of Bulgarian Customs Agency regarding the Import Control System. The team of the company performed a series of analyses (of the Bulgarian and European legislation, Requirements analysis, As Is and To Be analysis, etc.). In addition, the company implemented the process modeling activities with ARIS 9.8. As a result, the Bulgarian Customs Administration is now one step closer to achieving EU’s requirements.
