Challenge

The Customs and Excise Agency of Luxembourg was required to implement its national Excise system until 1st April 2010 as a part of its program for paperless customs procedures and enhancement to the latest EU requirements.

Solution

Latona delivered the national part of the so-called “Common Domains” components based on the functional, technical, and security specifications that were jointly defined by the EU Member States Administrations and DG TAXUD of The European Commission. As a result, the Administration of Customs and Excise of Luxembourg made a step toward paperless procedures and acquired an EMCS system, which provides Economic Operators with electronic facilities for excise declaration management both at a destination and at dispatch with proven flexibility, reliability, and capacity to scale across complex environments.
